Well, today i tried to draw a merfolk mesmerist from magic the gathering. It was a bit, em, tough - cause google has no full illustration, only card scans, liak x)

EDIT1

Is it better or not? *not very good with hands*

EDIT2

Okay, first try was lame...so

(i will shade it and add some details if it won't be another proportional failure)

Comments

the hand looks a little bit too big for my taste. (beware of proportions)

Yes, i think the same...i failed some proportions, trying to fix it now

I think you're intentionally trying to draw an anatomically incorrect hand. It's your style or something. Let's wait and see if you succeed or not.

I'm intentionally trying to draw a hand. I can't understand, what i am doing wrong -_-

Are you really dissatisfied with how you're drawing hands, or are you merely trying to satisfy tastes of other people (such as berniebear46)?
I'm not a professional artist, neither teacher, so I have no right to teach, and what I teach may not be correct.

Figure A illustrates hand and arm proportions. You should be able to see clearly that the (hand + fingers) equals half the length of (forearm + elbow). And (forearm+elbow) equals the length of (arm + shoulder).

Figure B illustrates hand proportions. The hand can be broken into 3 parts - fingers (1), knuckles (2) and base (3) (let's call it "palm"). Knuckles are parts of fingers, and they move together with them, however on the inner side of the hand you don't see them. So they are like part of the palm. The length of (fingers without knuckles) equals the length (palm without knuckles). Take note that (2) is not straight - it is curved. Fingers do not have same lengths. The thumb can be seen starting from the lower half of the palm. I also want to highlight that there are two bulges in the lower half of the palm, one of which is thumb's base, the other is what karate people strike with.

Figure C demonstrates thumb proportions in relation to the hand. Should be pretty clear.

Figure D is my try at drawing that problematic hand. You won't like it, because anime has a different style of drawing hands which is not realistic. And you're inclined towards anime style. Also I made a mistake in Figure D - there should be some space between the fingers.

My last advice is to always take a look at your own hand, you can study all the proportions from it. Why don't you use this glorious gift from God?

Sorry if I sounded harsh in my first comment.
You should unban ADDqd on VK, he has changed and realized his mistakes. He really likes you...
