It really is just mostly due to a lifelong trauma of being used to vector graphics, really xD it transfers really well into 3d I guess
Like, I learned blender mostly by their official tutorial videos (which are not super detailed) and making some mech models two years ago (though I suppose insects are essentially mechs as well, being segmented and all)

They are supposed to be more of a bronze age level of development, so no cavalry yet. Beetle charriots, on the other hand, are definitely on my to-do list
