Aspect progress report

Posted by Kiloru - June 14th, 2015

Well, last update was almost a mounth ago...bad, bad Kiloru.

I gotta a few news for you:

1. After a minor plot correction name 'Aspect' becomes...um, irrelevant. So, afer a little discussion with StarksNotDead I decided to change game's title to 'Overstay'.

2. UPDAaTE! At last, battle system works! It's kinda unfinished, yep, but it supports all basic things, such as:

  • visual effects and floating text
  • damage dealing and status/conditions
  • characters' deaths

A todo list for this moment looks like:

  • further conditions mechanics
  • vinning and losing battles
  • AI for enemies
  • _adequate_ visual effects (just because every effect of this game is а cappy placeholder)

So...here we go.

So bad, uh-uh. Well, nevertheless, it's something :3

You made it look like your battle system does not support multiple characters on the same team or multiple characters preparing actions. And what happens if multiple characters at once do an action at the same moment?
Special effects seem OK for a game, at least one special effect for the "Splitfire".
You need to work on the mouse cursors and buttons a lot to make it intuitive for a player that pressing a button does actually change something: when mousing over any item, it must be highlighted, when a player presses a button, cursor must reflect that it's for choosing a target, targets must highlight, etc. It is all graphical interface or HUD.
Similarly, the "death" of a character is outrageously non-obvious. It is clearly not enough to just turn a character half transparent. At least display a picture of a grave and 20% alpha sprite over it as a ghost or something...
At least it's something, man. You're actually making progress, moving forward. The project's not dead...
